Although a lifetime artist, Janet began her study of
art at Memphis College of Art. Her artwork is a true
extension of her life. Her paintings are as simple and
rustic as the countryside that she paints. The aged
wood and textured paint imparts a feeling of simpler
ways and times. The inspiration for her latest
paintings not only come from farm life, but also from
her many travels. Currently Janet is working on a
book about farm life, which will include a series of
paintings of the area in which she lives.
Throughout the years, Janet has been featured in
shows in the Memphis area including a solo show at
the Painted Planet, Playhouse on the Square, Circuit
Playhouse and Cooper Young Gallery. She has also
had many private shows including several on her
farm. You can find Janet’s work in private and
corporate collections throughout Memphis and the
mid-South.
